ALASKA SHEEP HUNTING OUTFITTER

Hunting Alaska with Rob Hardy never disappoints - and this hunt was no exception. After hunting Grizzly with Rob last year I made the decision to hunt Dall Sheep with him and he had an opening for this year. Of course, I immediately said "YES" and thus began my first sheep hunt preparations. I have a good friend and hunting buddy in Wyoming and asked him if he'd like to come along and join in the experience. After some logistics we made it happen and Rob was more than accommodating for any extra buddies that would like to join on your hunt.

Weather always plays a major role in any Alaska hunt but we were fortunate enough to be able to fly out on our scheduled day to start the hunt. Mike and Matt are fantastic pilots - first class all around!

Rob has everything and more that you will need for a comfortable camp while hunting. Tents, bed rolls, lanterns, and food are all provided. He is meticulous with his preparations and it shows throughout your experience. After setting up and getting settled in we were able to make a game plan for the first day of the hunt (you can not hunt the same day you fly in).

Rob's knowledge of his hunting area is more than evident through his direction and stories of past hunts. He knows how to and where to get the best vantage points and angles when approaching a new area. While animals are never guaranteed, Rob knows they are there and time and patience will pay dividends. We saw the ram I ended up shooting on the first day, however, we could not get close enough for a definitive look. Over the next few days, we dealt with some weather but made the best of it and looked over different ranges and valleys. We saw several sheep every day and several rams every day, however seeing them and getting to them are two entirely different things!

On the fifth day, we decided to get a better look at the first-day ram and it didn't take us long to find him. He had met up with some rams and lambs/ewes and ended up feeding right to us (which is exactly what Rob said they would do!). After several hours of glassing to make sure the ram was legal I took the shot. I had gotten my ram!
Care of the cape and meat is incredibly important on a once-in-a-lifetime trophy and in normal Rob fashion - it was done with the highest of detail.

If you are at all considering an Alaskan hunt I would look no farther than Rob. I have been on several guided huntings across the US and Canada - and no one comes close to Rob, his hunting area, and his general knowledge of the species you are hunting!
